Karnataka Govt Orders Work From Home For All IT Firms, Employees For ‘Few More Months’

The Central and state governments have extended and allowed all IT and ITes (IT-enabled services) companies and their employees to work from home or continue remote working until the pandemic subsides, which means at least for some more months. The Centre has also extended connectivity norms for work-from-home to IT and business processing outsourcing (BPO) firms till March 2021.

Apple employees likely to work from home till June 2021

Apple Inc employees are most likely to continue work from home until June next year. According to Tim Cook,  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Apple Inc said “seems likely” the majority of the team won’t be back before June 2021. With this, Apple has joined Google, Amazon, and Facebook who have allowed their employees to work remotely until the summer of 2021.

Capgemini’s Massive Hiring Plan For India: 48,000 New Employees By 2021-End, Both Freshers, Experienced

The French IT major Capgemini has more than half of its workforce in India. The IT services major has already hired over 45,000 employees all around the globe in 2020, with about 24,000 employees in India itself. The company has informed that despite having a low attrition rate, it will continue to hire for lateral positions, with similar targets, i.e., over 24,000 in India, or more by the end of 2021.

Nagarro to hire 1,000 persons globally, majorly from India

Digital engineering and technology solutions firm Nagarro on Monday said it is looking at recruiting about 1,000 persons globally in the next few months, with a majority from India. Nagarro has offices in 25 countries globally with major centers in Romania, Austria, Germany, India, Mexico, the UAE, and the US. It has a strong presence in India with over 6,000 employees across its offices in Gurugram, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad. Globally, it has about 8,500 persons.

Cabinet approves Rs 23,000 crore Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana to boost fresh hiring

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved Rs 22,810 crore outlay for the Atmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY) that aims at encouraging businesses to do fresh hiring amid the pandemic. Under the scheme, the government will provide a subsidy for two years in respect of new employees engaged on or after October 1, 2020, and up to June 30, 2021.

Cognizant to hire 23,000 people from campuses in 2021

Cognizant expects to hire up to 23,000 people from campuses in 2021, a majority of whom will be from India, it’s newly appointed India managing director Rajesh Nambiar said. Nambiar, who came on board in October, reports to CEO Brian Humphries and is an executive committee representative of the company’s nearly 200,000 associates in India. He is also responsible for strengthening the firm’s ties with Indian government agencies and policy bodies.

Walmart commits to increase exports from India to $10 billion by 2027

In an attempt to support Indian small and medium businesses and create jobs, Walmart on Thursday announced its commitment to export $10 billion worth of India-made goods each year by 2027. India-made apparel, homeware, jewelry, hardlines, and other popular products currently reach customers in 14 markets, including the US, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the United Kingdom, via Walmart’s Global Sourcing office in Bangalore, which opened in 2002.
