Delayering | Meaning and Definition

What is Delayering? 

The delayering is a process of removing the hierarchy among the employees at higher and lower levels of the organization in order to enhance the operational efficiency of the organization. The managers in the middle level of the organization are removed and the entire power is shifted to the senior managers in the organization to look after the activities and make the necessary decision for the company which maintains the transparency in the organization. 

There are advantages as well as disadvantages that are associated with delayering. The advantage is that the employees in the organization can save on the expenses on their salary. The disadvantage associated with the delayering is that the decisions making process get hampered as all the load and burden lies on the senior managers of the organization.
