Employee Resignation templates

The resignation email acts as your official notification to your employer and the HR department that you intend to leave the firm. While it is normally preferable to resign in person with a proper letter of resignation, some situations, such as remote working positions, do necessitate a resignation email.

Resignation email (type a)

Dear [Manager Name],

I’m writing to inform you that I’m leaving my position as [Job Title] at [Company Name]. [Date] is my last day of work.

I want to express my appreciation for the opportunities that have come my way during my time at [Company Name]. I’ve learned a lot and got the chance to work with some genuinely great colleagues. 

This company’s experience will undoubtedly help me in my future endeavors.

This was a challenging decision, and I gave it much thought. Yet, after careful thinking, I have concluded that it is time for me to move on and pursue new chances. This is the best decision for my personal and professional development.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help with the transition during my remaining time here. I will do everything I can to make the transition as easy as possible.

Thank you again for the invaluable experience and assistance you provided me during my time at [Company Name]. I wish you and your entire team the best of luck in the future.

Resignation email (type b)

Dear [Manager Name],

I am writing to inform you that I have decided to resign from my position as [Your Job Title] at [Company Name]. My last day of work will be [Date].

I have greatly appreciated the opportunities and experiences that I have had during my time at [Company Name]. However, I have decided that it is time for me to move on to a new chapter in my career.

Please let me know what steps I need to take to ensure a smooth transition during my remaining time at the company. I am committed to ensuring that all of my responsibilities are completed and that my departure does not cause any disruption to the team.
