In the UAE private sector, the normal workday goes from<b> 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including short breaks.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<span style=\"background-color: transparent;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6c019f4a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6c019f4a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b>Rest periods, Meals and Prayers<\/b><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8667084 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8667084\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, as stated in Article 18 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33, labour law in UAE the law requires all employers to provide appropriate rest periods during their working hours in the UAE.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to regulations, this is how breaks are handled:<\/span><\/p><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Firstly, employees can work for <\/span><b>5 hours<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or more without getting some time off for meals or rest.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><ul><li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, the minimum break time is<\/span><b> 1 hour<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> without exceptions.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Breaks don&#8217;t count as part of an employee\u2019s working hours in the UAE unless they are free during that time.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thus, working positions that require shifts or all-day work may follow breaks different from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mohre.gov.ae\/en\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MOHRE<\/a>\u2019s standards.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><div>\u00a0<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-917243c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"917243c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\"><b>Overtime Policy in UAE <\/b><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-590a4ba1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"590a4ba1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As Article 19 of Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 states, UAE Labour Law describes exactly\u00a0<\/span>when employers require\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zimyo.com\/resources\/hr-glossary\/overtime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">overtime\u00a0<\/a>and how they must pay for it.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main overtime regulations in the UAE are explained here:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If an employee\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zimyo.com\/resources\/hr-glossary\/standard-hours\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">working hours<\/a>\u00a0in the UAE is for a longer day or more than 48 hours a week, they are eligible for extra payment due to overtime.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, for working so many hours, the employeers should pay employees their usual pay along with a minimum of <\/span><b>25% more<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><div>\u00a0<\/div><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moreover, if a person works overtime from 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM, the pay rises.
